Laminating
Lamination or laminating is the covering or overlaying of plastic films onto documents, posters and plans. The plastic has a coating of heat activated glue on one surface of the plastic. Using heated rollers the plastic film is heated and pressed on to the surface of the document.
When the glue cools it sticks to the surface of the document being laminated.
Lamination can be used to seal a document and protect it from moisture, chemicals, dirt and it adds UV resistance insuring your paperwork lasts.
Depending on your desired look you can choose from a gloss or matt finish.
Lamination is perfect for:
- Posters
- Maps
- Inexpensive outdoor signs
- Building plans
- Recipes
- Write on reusable forms like board game sheets
Lamination Machines
At Copyworks in Warkworth we have two laminating machines, our small pouch machine is ideal for quick laminating of your documents up to A3 in size while our wide format roll feed machine is perfect for those larger documents such as plans, posters or documents longer than A3. We also use this machine for larger runs of A4 and A3 documents as needed. Click the link to learn more about the paper dimensions.
Unfortunately not all documents are suitable to be laminated. Any material that is affected by heat or is likely to melt or change shape when undergoing the lamination process should not be laminated. Such examples include but are not limited to: crayon or pastel drawings, some plastics (e.g. stickers), some coated papers (may bubble due to the heat) and historical documents (as plastic cannot be removed once applied).
While all care is taken, lamination is not a 100% perfect process and occasionally the finished quality may not be perfect. We endeavor to supply a high quality product at all times, the lamination is done at the customers risk and we will not be held liable if the finished item is not perfect.
Do you have a poster or some other document that requires laminating? Call Copyworks now on 09 425 7257 or email us about lamination.
